A super piece of writing:

Finley felt the heat of the eye blinding streaks of sunlight. Liam, the head of the rugby team, strut right past with his head held high. Gripping the shimmering door handle of the rose red Lamborghini, he unbolted the rose door. The rest of the rugby team closely followed getting into the long lasting line of gilded golden Ferraris. Without a second look back he rammed his foot against the peddle and shot off down the filthy road. Stacey clung to her brother, Finley, as a tear went trickling down her face. His phone started to ring…

We're back!

This term the Year Sixes are learning about evolution and Charles Darwin.  Lucy wanted to write a poem about him.

Charles Darwin Evolution Poem

No one found a resolution
To the Earth’s evolution
But then came Charles Darwin
A brain box who loved farming.

He studied creatures as small as ants
Also studied animals and plants
He decided to figure out how things evolve
Everyone thought it was impossible to solve
Charles Darwin was a hero
Who started off at zero.

Another dark 50 word story...

The End

As the plane came plummeting towards the Devil’s Pit, as awesome people call it, all you could hear was the pitch of unfortunates’ screaming. Amalia sat with her hand nervously slumped on top of her mother’s, trying to keep her calm and confident.  Amalia soothingly said, “This is the end!”

A mysterious tale...

The Waiting!

As life went floating by, Danielle stayed cool and collected. No matter how long she waited she would still stay a pretty and popular girl. Danielle lay in the field with a glistening golden dress twinkling in the blinding sun beams. She looked at her pearly white watch. Danielle had been waiting there since 4:30pm waiting for him, bearing in mind that was the time they agreed to meet. She had been waiting there for 20 minutes; however she had not one idea of why she was still waiting.

Just as she stood up, to leave, a black shadow came striding towards her. Danielle took off her glamorous designer 4 inch heels and started to sprint heading for him. Thinking it was him. But was it him? “Lucas, you’re here you’ve made it!” she yelled. When she was about 5 yards away from him. She stopped…

Her eyes flickered around the open field almost asking for help. Would there be any help? Where is help? What has he been watching her the entire time? She cautiously took a step back, thinking she would be safe, but unfortunately she was wrong. As quick as a lightning bolt he reached into his pocket and pulled out a fully loaded pistol and pointed it right to her picture perfect face. She told people she never cried, well that’s not true. A crystal clear tear went smoothly crawling down her face.

Her arms were flung up into the air, feeling threatened. She started to inhale the fine air, which had changed from summery beach air to the freezing cold devil’s pit, like her mum used to talk about. As two lonely creeping tears tamely crawled down her face, thousands more followed. A black cloud of sins covered the icy sharp sky. She gasped for breath as the gun came closer and closer to her head. Then it stopped as it just lightly tapped her frail face. She gulped. Just then she realized the bug repellent she had tucked away in her hand bag. Without warning, she delicately pulled it out of her hand bag. Then pressed the buzzer and sprayed it into his eyes.

“Danielle!” Lucas came running towards her. She pulled the trigger of the gun. And the bullet went right through the black figure. She felt proud, that she had saved herself rather than being the damsel in distress!
Lucas picked up the tortured young girl and carried her through the meadow, nevertheless she would always have the memories of her bravery.

Author visit

Yesterday a children’s author visited us.  Adrian Townsend has written 7 books so far, the most popular is Gran's Gang.

He lives in Oxford and has to travel to different schools to talk to children on how to stick at reading because people who read are more successful in life! He also taught us how to be a writer. He gave us tips: 1) choose a place to write where you will feel comfortable and calm, 2) have a nice pen, and 3) have a good notebook to write in.  Adrian told us to look at things and then think 'what if?' For example he saw a gang of boys and thought what if they were a gang of grannies.

He also mentioned about following your dreams,  because when he was little he wanted to be a writer and look at him now, he is not just any random person who writes stories he is actually a published author. It takes him 2 to 3 months to write one book.

He also writes scripts for plays (for adults). He would usually write a bit of a book one week and then do a script the next. He has written roughly 10 plays.

A new school year.  Year 6 are studying World War Two this term.

This is Lucy's writing on Dunkirk.

Dunkirk

Sunrise. He saw the beach tattered, blown up, the shine of the sun trying, just trying to reach the wrecked beach, blocked by the sandy smoke. The surviving, the wounded, the worried and the calm. All huddled up under the misty sky above, he dropped to his knees, the miserable claggy sand seeping through the jagged holes in his army overalls.
Bringing one leg up then followed by the other, lifting his weight, he dragged himself towards the desperate soldiers. ”Ah Private Jones welcome to the force,“ shouted a war weary Captain. The Private walked away. And never looked back. He stood watching soldiers die in agony, and others laugh in pain.
Right there, right then a gunshot went off, the bullet case fell onto the pack of sand like an empty grenade. He carefully studied the bullets travel, then without warning a worrying noise,  it sounded like something heavy hitting the mucky sand. He looked up. It was. The silk, skinned horse hit the floor. The horses started to panic.
As he collapsed to the ground thinking what’s the point, he shaded his eyes from the smoke as he hid himself from the devastating place. He lifted his hands away and just made out a figure in the distant background, he traced it with his finger. It was a boat. The only thing that crossed his mind at that very moment was I can go home! He started to cry with joy.

A 50 Word Story

The asteroid came powering towards Earth with a mighty speed, sending the stars and planets of the Solar System to other galaxies, as if it was controlling the things standing in its way, leaving sparks as it travelled as if to poison things that would try to trip it up.
