100 Words

It was a wonderful Saturday morning, when Max and his friend were going out on an adventure to the deep dark woods. Max’s dad was taking them there and dropping them off. When they got there it started to rain. “DAD, come back!” shouted Max but there was no luck. They found a tree with a large hole in so they made themselves comfortable. When all of a sudden a light flashed behind them so they went to see. “Drink this,” said a voice. “Look up! Can you see?” They answered yes and whoosh they went up into the sky.

When he went on, the kart dropped from the 50 metres. Most broke their necks and some died. David survived the drop. He said, “Look up! Can you see the coaster track? It’s falling.” Sadly David died at the age of 14.  But now the curse was gone forever.

“Look up! Can you see falling sweets?”

100 Words - The Deep, Dark Woods

My name is Lily Rose.

It was a Thursday or maybe a Friday, it’s been so long. But that one day, everything changed. I had heard stories about the three bears; I wanted to know if it was true. I set off. Striding nervously, I came across a cottage crumbling from neglect. I heard crunching noises up above me; I turned back. From the other side of the woods came a voice, “Look up, can you see?”  I glared up at a tree to find a white snarl and a pair of eyes. “I’m sick of porridge.” It went black.

We knew something was wrong; we walked slowly and briefly to the mansion. “Who was inside?” we thought. I was really scared. As we opened the crooked door we heard a wicked laugh. “Look up! Can you see?” I shouted. We saw a bad sight. A man; a man with a knife… there was blood on it. We backed away quietly. The man charged. We screamed in horror. He shouted. We fell…gone! Nobody knew…

The Amazing Life Of Anna Sewth!

Anna Sewth is a name you might have heard of: as well as being one of the UK’s professional doctors, she also invented a drug that could cure one of the nation’s biggest birth killers: phybioceopis. Her childhood was dark and cruel with death overtaking what is said to be a time when you are free; Anna was not free. With a head firmly set on being a physician, Anna studied at St Andrew’s Medical School. Soon after qualifying, she went on to be a superb doctor. Tragically she died at the age of 34. Even though she died so young, her life was far from wasted!

As a child Anna grew up with many obstacles and demons in her way. Unspeakable, her mother died of a brain tumour when Anna was just four. A year before her mother’s death, Anna lost her baby sister - who was called Rosie - minutes after being born. The doctors confirmed it was phybioceopis that killed her.  After those terrible deaths, there was only her father left. Anna was born in a small town in Cumbria on 17th June 1980. She grew up with her dad (Michael) in Picker surounded by the wonder that is nature! Her father was a doctor and worked for the local hospital. He hated his job and had always dreamt of working for HRM the Queen, but he gave it up when he met Carol (Anna’s late mam). Even though he hated his job, Anna didn’t; she would often spend long hot days in the summer watching her dad do surgery indoors. However, she didn’t realise how long it would be before she had to put her skills to good use!

By the age of twelve Anna had already made her name famous to the nation.  It was a miserable Sunday.  The rain poured down from the washed out clouds and the wind blew up to 60 mph; Anna’s dad sent her to the shop to get some veg for tea. Anna bought the veg and was just about to leave the shop when suddenly she heard a beckoning scream from a woman, who was pushing a pram, at the end of one of the aisles. Determined to help, Anna ran over to see what was wrong.  It turned out that the baby in the pram had stopped breathing!  This may seem impossible but somehow Anna got the young child to start breathing again. After this extraordinary event took place, Anna received lots of gifts and fame, but the idea of saving a life was worth a lot more than all the gifts and fame! Is this were it all ended for Anna? Had she accomplished all she needed to? Or was she hungry for more?

Later in life-after graduating from St Andrew’s Medical School, Anna went on to become probably the world’s greatest doctor, however a hole still remained in the depths of her heart; all she ever thought about every minute of every hour of every day was what if she could have saved the life of her sister. Those words chimed in her head all day like the grandfather clock that stood tall and proud at the bottom of her stairs in her small cottage.  Unable to think clearly anymore, in a moment of madness, Anna quit her job! Destroying everything she had ever worked for. December 2007: her farther became critically ill. Knowing his daughter wouldn’t cope without him he whispered these inspirational words into her ears before slipping away: “I’m tired lass, a need to rest, but don’t think because of me you give up. Never give up; don’t greave all your life. Grab life with both hands ‘cause you’ll fail at some things but keep trying!” That’s when Anna realised her eyes opened and she immediately started working on a cure for phybioceopis. It took six long exhausting years but eventually she found a cure. She managed to save thousands of lives and in the end she wiped out the illness for good! Everything was finally working out. Or so she thought.

On the disastrous night of 19th May 2013, Anna Sewth was on her way home from work when it happened. Anna was hit by a lorry and killed instantly. Her life was grabbed viciously from the light into the dark. This may seem like her time on earth seemed full of death and sorrow and in many ways it was, but when you think about it she saved hundreds, thousands, millions of lives. Isn’t that a happy and amazing life? Even today she is remembered for her influential, ambitious and talented personality.

Clark Dickinson: The life of a soldier

Clark Dickinson was born in 1973, in Manchester. At the age of 4 his parents died in a car and he was forced to go and stay with his uncle. He lived with his uncle until he was 16 and then joined the army; he was a very successful soldier. After he was in the army for 12 years he became a sergeant. In 2012 Clark was recruited for the team that killed Osama Bin Laden. Once he was knighted by the Queen, Clark retired from the army and went on holiday to Spain, but tragically died in a plane hijack at the age of 40. Clark was known as a hero not just for killing Bin Laden but for giving up his life and saving thousands.

When Clark was born he didn’t see his father until the age of three (his father was fighting for the British Army abroad), but when his parents were on their way to pick him up from his first day at school, his father lost control of the car and crashed. When he was told that he had to go and live with his uncle, Clark didn’t want to go but in the end he went. As he got older Clark wanted to know about his parents: when his uncle told him that his father was a soldier, Clark was inspired and wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. When his sixteenth birthday came he didn’t celebrate. He was focused on becoming a soldier.

Later in life, Clark was promoted to a sergeant after battling in many wars and managing to win, but it wasn’t all victory. Clark watched his friends get killed and he was lucky to come out alive. When Clark had finished on the front lines and commanding a group of soldiers, he was recruited for the elite team that killed the infamous Osama Bin Laden. After killing Bin Laden, Clark realized that there was not much more for him in the army, so he retired from the battlefield and carried on his life lecturing around the world.

After six months of not being at war, Clark received a letter from the Queen, saying that she was going to knight him. Venturing into Buckingham palace, Clark was amazed by what he saw. Once his knighthood was televised, Clark wanted to lay low, so he went on holiday to Spain. During the hijacking, the pilot was killed, but in this event Clark knocked out the hijacker and managed to land it. Unfortunately when Clark was fighting the hijacker, he was stabbed in the stomach and Clark died of blood loss on the way to hospital.

It is thanks to Clark that thousands of people are still alive. Clark had a great impact on the world as every year countries like Spain, America, England, France and Russia remember the day Clark Dickinson died and they respect him.

This is a quote from Stephen Walking, one of the passengers on the plane:

“Clark saved not just the people on the plane; he also saved many of the people that were on the streets of Spain and risked his life. He will be remembered.”

Bobby Charleston: Life’s a Ball

Bobby Charleston was known across the world; he was a greatly successful footballer – playing for England and Chelsea. Scoring goals from an extensive distance was his specialty. Due to the broadcast of 1973 (England vs. Germany) the name Bobby Charleston was known world-wide. Back then the stadiums were full of fans chanting his name. He lived in a large mansion located in London; Bobby lived a well-lived life, tragically dying at the age of 62. People sat on the edge of their seat anticipating another goal from their idol.

Born in Manchester (1952), he grew up not knowing his father very well as he died when Bobby was just four. At the age of six Bobby was playing for a team full of other youngsters – but he stood out amongst them. His unique love of football at such a young age was seen as fascinating for spectators. Joseph Charleston (Bobby’s Grandfather) was the one who discovered his talent; encouraging him greatly, he was determined to make Bobby an even better player. Once Bobby’s team conquered the opponents 10-0; his mother commented on that match saying, “His love for football is truly inspiring. He never leaves the house without a ball tucked under his arm.” At the young age of 10 Bobby had stacks of shiny gold trophies that illuminated his roof. Later in life Bobby experienced a real struggle; as at the age of 14 his Granddad passed away. For two months Bobby didn’t even touch a football. Despite this he regained his ability to play.

In early March of 1971 Bobby made a move that would change his life forever. For a fee of £200,000 he was put on Chelsea’s 1st team. In the 89th minute of a game (that was very close) being drawn by both England and Germany the match was at one all. But as the ball was passed to Bobby he took one look at the ball and one at the net. 2-1 was the score that day. People all across the world celebrated as England were through to the World Cup final.

Dreadfully, Bobby died at the age of 62 of a brain tumour; his death shocked not just a nation but the world. To this day he is still known to be one of the greatest footballers to ever live. This dark tale was written in Cameron's spare time.  Beware! Do not read after midnight.  You have been warned.

Rove

The Devil is his name, when you call upon him use this name and no other. It might just save your scrawny life, boy! I am his slave; bound by blood I am. He fed me for a month he did making me his familiar. My name is Rove and I am no doubt a goblin. I live in a country where witches and goblins do exist, it’s called…. The Underworld, the place of death! I worked for the devil until he enslaved my people. My family was the first to die, I was the second… This is my story.

I was born a goblin, obviously in the underworld, to my parents Samos and Gristion. They liked to hunt so I inherited that from them; also I inherited my grand goblin Wathsgd - it can tell the time on Earth. I would love to visit Earth; I would always like to have visited. But that’s when my parents sold me as a slave to the devil. He said he would pay my family well for me but, oh boy that was a lie. They do call him the father of lies though, so my parents should have known better. It was a hard few years of being a throne cleaner. It wasn’t really cleaning because I covered it in black hair form his back - why he likes it no one knows. It’s quite puzzling how why he needs so many slaves, he is twenty feet tall though. He controls this domain, his domain. In the underworld the old gods have their own domain, kind of like a bedroom but bigger and you’ve got more chance of dying in another god’s domain. I am protected from the devil in his domain but, anywhere else I’m as good as dead! Working for him was my protection, before I abused it.

Then I was promoted to being a throne searcher where I go under the giant throne and search for anything under there. My family didn’t get a penny from that back stabber! The reason he wiped out my entire race was simple, we revolted! We burned his throne to the ground with a consequence that we were all willing to pay. His back hair was singed but that wasn’t enough. We took his left thumb and boiled it to make him screech. Like a banshee he screamed before he killed all of us. He trapped us all in a bamboo cage and poured hot oil onto our soft skinned bodies. My parents where in the first cage, the first to feel the pain. I was in the second. It was horrible to watch as their skin melted, before mine did.

That is my story. My name is Rove; use it when you seek me. I will come, with a price, a big one.

Mountain Poem

I am the master from up high
Don’t look down you might die
I’m the killer that no one knows
I send the haunting chill down your back
When you walk on my ice it will crack.

I will summon armies of ice, wind and snow
The icicles like frozen fingers dangerously swinging down below
My eyes like an eagle will watch you wherever you go

I brought the destruction to you all with my avalanche of snow.

106 Words - The Box

Rue lived in the attic of her grandparent’s huge house. It was cold, damp and frightening in her attic because hidden under Rue’s bed was a box. It wasn’t any old box, no; it was as black as the night, covered in peculiar, red markings. Rue found it under one of the floorboards while she was searching for her phone. She never told anyone about it, in case they made fun of her or tried to take it away. On a dark, stormy night, Rue slid the box out from under her bed. Hands shaking, Rue opened it, but when she lifted the lid…

Darkness. Alone.

Mountain Poem

I am the unknown killer

The one who is strong

As strong as a rock

High as the towering clouds

The wonder of mankind

I am the dictator of the world

My arms are warriors

To any winter Olympian

My body is formidable to anyone

Who comes into my territory?

My head is covered

With lots of ice and snow

I will dictate how high

Only the strongest will have their day.

Mountain Poem

I am the frightful beast,
The one who always succeeds,
The unexplained thoughts in your head,
I order the snow to stampede,

I am the mighty king,
Of wind and rain and snow,
I’ll tear you by degrees,

I will tell you where to go.

106 Words - The Death Box!

One day there was a little girl, who was ten, named Sarah. Her grandparents handed her a dark red box with a big question mark on. She asked what it was. “It is the Box of All Eternity, now guard it with all of your life,” said Gran. Sarah told her gran, “I have to go home now, sorry.” Sarah took it back to her room - the tension was getting higher and higher.
So at age 35 Sarah went to the box. But when she lifted the lid, disaster struck. All the lakes and oceans turned into burning acid and the rain turned to lava droplets.

106 Words - The Box

Rue lived a normal life. In the middle of California she had perfectly tanned skin just like all of her friends. One day she was down at the local sweet shop, Cindy Candy, and was looking at the infinite gob stoppers and jellybeans in the heavenly place when she noticed a sparkly silver box on the counter. Rue was puzzled. After all she came here every day and had never noticed it. Curious, she asked Cindy what it was. Cindy replied, “Find out for yourself.” Rue picked up the box and drew in a deep breath. But then she lifted the lid. And there was silence.

106 Words - Mystery Box

I opened the door, making a creak as I stepped inside. The coldness in the mansion sent a shiver down my spine. Dusty old newspapers and artefacts surrounded the old vast mansion. There it was the same dejected mystery box that lay on the floor, untouched. I reached towards it, questioning whether to open it or not. Shaking like a leaf, I had made my mind up…but when I lifted the lid… I fell into the box. “NO!” I screamed. Darkness surrounded me. Down,  down I finally reached the bottom with a loud THUD. Out of nowhere there was a loud growl. “I’ve been expecting you.”

We've been writing biographies of fictitious characters:

A Life Well Lived: Lola Parkinstok

Born on the west coast of Scotland in 1959, Lola Rose Parkinstok was an unmistakeable author. Her famous writing is known throughout the world. She is regarded by many to be the greatest author ever. When she died the world was mourning; her life inspired a new generation of writers and story-tellers. Even today she is remembered by many people.

She grew up in the small village of Bute, on the west coast of Scotland. Her father (Guy Parkinstok) was a local shop keeper in her village. He became extremely ill and died when Lola was only six years old. Her mother was a teacher at the local school. Ever since she was able to write, the gifted, ambitious author was always up in her room writing amazing stories that she sold to the locals.

Later in life, Lola started to write a group of books called The Adventures of Crystal Bay.  It was about a group of friends who explore the hidden Crystal Bay. By the time she was twenty-eight her first book had been published and had sold over three million copies. After publishing her second book she became famous world-wide.

After this great success Lola continued to write more of the popular series. When she turned thirty-nine, the first book was adapted into a major film. She travelled the world – doing lectures, meeting fans and signing books. The unique author won the Whitelist Book Award four times during her life. On her way back to the UK (from a conference in Germany) the plane had an emergency crash and she was rushed into hospital. Tragically, thirteen people, including her closest friend, Jean Watson, died.

When she was fifty-seven, Lola was rushed in to hospital with cancer. She suffered two and a half years of agony until she sadly passed away, alone. Unfortunately, she was half way through writing the last book of the series. The book sold at an auction for over twenty thousand pounds. All of the money went towards new medicine for the NHS. Some believe that she was the most influential author ever. As Lola said:” Throughout life we learn and experience lots of different things, some amazing, some depressing, but even if the journey’s tough, it will be worth it in the end.”
