Using figurative language, Mia wrote this thoughtful poem during our Ofsted inspection.   Mr Ditchburn read it out in assembly.  The Ofsted inspector was moved by the poem and so were we.

The poem's title was inspired by a quote from Benjamin Zephaniah.

Things I Can’t Always Say

At the moment, I’m feeling down,
He’s always laughing at me like I’m a clown.

At the moment, I’m feeling sad,
He says it’s me when he does something bad.

At the moment, I want to feel great,
I no longer want to be the shark bait.

At the moment I am a fish,
Swimming straight onto my predator’s dish.

At the moment, he’s hurting me,
Even when I plead and plead.

At the moment, I don’t want to talk,
Because it’s harder to talk, than it is to walk.
