A few days ago we went to see an outside performance of Henry V at Hutton-in-the-Forest.

We went to watch a play about Henry V. We sat on the coach for 1hour.  But before we went to watch the play we sat on a field which had lots of lovely flowers and grass then we sat down and ate our lovely dinner. (Packed lunch.)

Before the play started we walked to the toilets. Then we walked down to sit on a bank and at the bottom of the bank there was a stage. Behind the stage was a little waterfall.

There were only 5 people doing the play but it was better than the film. One of the 5 people was Henry V and he was the one shouting all the way through the play. (I did not like him because he gives you a headache!!!)

The war bit was a little bit rubbish because it did not look real. But the rest of it was cool. The bad bit was when it started to rain because we all got drenched.

England v Italy

The two teams came on to the pitch as their fans cheered them on.  The whistle blew and they were under way.

Italy’s Danielle de Rossi hit the post in the opening 5 minutes from thirty yards. Gianluigi Buffon denied Glen Johnson from a curler inside the six yard box, then Rooney headed the ball over the bar. It should have been a goal. Ballotelli missed a great chance but was played onside by Terry, fortunately for England Terry got back to block the shot!

It was a superb ball over the England defence from Montivillo, then Ballotelli attempted a scissor kick but it went straight into the palms of Joe Hart. There was an easy chance for Ballotelli from an Andreas Pirlo cross. Ballotelli missed from four yards! And then the whistle blew for half time.

Second half

Joe Hart then punched Pirlo’s corner but it fell for Montivillo, he crossed the ball back in to the six yard box, De Rossie’s left foot volley floated wide. A cross from Walcott went too high for Andy Carroll’s reach but it fell for Ashley Young who struck the ball into the Italian defenders leg, which prevented a corner. Montivillo made a fantastic pass to Nocerino, luckily for England Glen Johnson got back to make a magnificent block. Full time, extra time begun.

Extra time

Diamanti hit the post, a missed opportunity for Italy. Ballzerreti fizzed the ball into the box and found Diamanti who couldn’t direct his shot on target. Diamanti crossed the ball into the box and found Nocerino and headed the ball in, but he was offside.

Penalties

There went the whistle for penalties. Ballotelli was up first, he was against his own Manchester City team mate Joe Hart, but still scored 1-O. Gerrard’s shot put it in the same corner 1-1. Italy missed, still 1-1. Rooney blasted his into the corner 2-1. Pirlo chipped the ball down the middle 2-2. Young smashed it against the bar 2-2. Nocerino scored with his stutter penalty 3-2. Ashley Cole stepped up, to miss the penalty. Italy need to score to win. Diamanti sent Hart the wrong way to send Italy to the semi finals!

Men!  You brave men we will enter battle not just for us, but for England. Even though we are outnumbered we will still win, all of our hearts are bigger than ten of theirs. Remember lads the bigger they are the harder they fall. We will conquer France like we conquered all the other countries. Whoever die’s today will have died with pride. In years to come you men will show your scars and say I was there on St. Crispin’s day. Forward we shall go battling through the French troops. We shall win or we shall lose, but those who survive this almighty battle shall live on with pride and can say they were there on St. Crispin’s Day!

Troops! We can do this, no one will forget this day, St Crispin’s day! You will be remembered. No one remembers second best. We will win the fight. We will put the French to shame. The battle field will be on your memory forever. If we die at least we will die together and with dignity in our souls. We will win this battle and beat the French. Just because we’re a few men down doesn’t mean we’re not the better side! Fight. Fight like you’ve never fought before. Tales and stories will be told about you all they will say he was in the war and he was on the side that won! Never forget that we are English men, we will win, and we’ll never surrender against the French. Don’t give up, and you will not close that curtain because if you close that curtain we will lose. We are going to win. I believe in you all from the youngest man here to the oldest here. Don’t let the English down! We are a team, we are brothers, and if you battle with me I will help you to battle the French. Just remember that I have faith in you so let’s go and beat the French and show them what we are made of!

Listen, you heroic English troops!

We will do battle, we will make history.

Men and women will awake in their English beds and think themselves accursed,

They will wish themselves here, on this memorable day, when we will fight the cursed foe.

Just because we are outnumbered doesn’t mean we can surrender cowardly.

He that lives this historical day and returns safely home will up stand at the name of Crispin.

We will go out there and fight like it’s our last day, for some it will be.

But for he who shares his scars and wounds with me will be remembered until the end of England’s time.

The Olympic Torch

On Thursday 21^st of June we went down to Stainburn School to see the Olympic torch. There were cheerleaders dancing on Stainburn field. The man who had the Olympic torch was running around the middle waving at us.

Ellie and Autumn were wearing green coats because they forgot theirs. Autumn was wearing the great Union flag too. The camera man was taking photos and the TV man was interviewing.

All of our school were there Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. It was amazing.

It is still sad to see people suffering, please help us fight off everyone’s cancer by donating.” With figures rising and thousands of people dying, cancer is becoming a breath taking tragedy, this is a spine chilling nightmare we, and you should, dread having.


However, by you donating only £3 a month, or more, you can help us beat horrifying cases of cancer, with the price so little, we can buy equipment, buy life changing medicine and pay the wages of researchers and people who help make a large difference. Whinlatter

We went to Whinlatter on June 20th 2012, it was great. There was a massive park, there were water screws, a basket swing, a climbing frame and much more. All this was so cool, but my favourite was the rope swing. Near the park there was a wooden monkey carved out of a tree and the funny part was it said on it Go Ape.

The ranger took us into a room, there were stuffed animals every where. The woman told us how they died, most died of old age. Some died because they were very sick - it was so sad – especially the red squirrel that died of squirrel pox.

Building huts was hard, but after we did them they looked so cool. But one was better then the rest because they used team work. There were many huts, some were good and some weren’t.

We all tried our best.

If I had the choice I would go back.

England v Ukraine

On Tuesday England played Ukraine at the Donbass arena. Early on Yarmolenko sprinted through the England midfield but he’d taken to many touches and could not get the shot away. What was the England midfield doing?

Later on in the game Ashley Young was on the break. He swung the ball in from the left and picked out an unmarked Rooney, a free header for him but he just put it wide, a great chance to put them ahead. A few minutes later Ukraine was on the attack, a brilliant move by Yarmolenko, he cut inside Ashley Cole and shot from the edge of the box - Joe Hart was down quickly and held it.

In the thirty second minute Gerrard crossed in a beautiful ball and found Terry. It was his chance to put England ahead, but again England couldn’t get a goal. Once again Yarmolenko was on the ball, he dribbled the ball past three England defenders and made Scott Parker dive in with his head, eventually England cleared it for a corner.

There went the half time whistle: Ukraine was  the better side.

Second half   

The second half was under way with no personal changes from either side. Gerrard crossed the ball in but it was cleared straight back to him. He fired it back into the six yard box and the keeper made a terrible mistake and Rooney took advantage and put it into the back of the net. It was an easy goal for Rooney.

Gerrard released Rooney through the centre and it was a foot race, but he couldn’t beat the defender and laid off Milner but his shot was blocked. Ukraine were on the attack, there was only the keeper to beat, the Ukraine striker took a shot and Hart tipped the ball over.  Later on Joe Hart and Terry had to make a goal line clearance. Actually it went over the line but it was disallowed.  Again, Konoplyanka fired a long range shot and Joe Hart had to make a superb save, how did he save it?

The final whistle went, that meant England were top of their group and they play Italy on Sunday. Come on England!

Whinlatter

Yesterday we went on a 45 minute journey to Winlatter, it may have been a long journey but it was worth the wait. When we arrived we walked from the bus to a massive play area but we decided to look around. There was a narrow wobbly bridge that led on to a huge slide that dwarfed a tiny slide next to it, but overhead there was a tree top obstacle course (Go Ape). There was also a bouncy balance tree on its side. Then we walked up the hill a bit to get to the log stilts, there were eight stilts. We had to twist and turn around them. After that we went to the play tractor which had a climbing frame and another wobbly bridge. Next we went to the climbing frame that we swung and climbed across. Then we went to the water screw and after that we wandered to the rope swing. When we were on it we went really high.

Classroom

We met a friendly ranger called Barbara, she took Jack and me to the class room not forgetting the rest of the group. She told us there was a disease called the squirrel pox that only effects the red squirrel because the grey squirrels are too big and strong. That means the red squirrels  are endangered. Did you know deer mark their territory by scratching their antlers on a tree?

After we learnt about more things about animals we walked out to the forest and there was a plant with heart shape leaves.  If you chew them you will not be thirsty anymore and it tastes like lemon. And there was an epic view of Keswick.

We had to make a hut but we did not sleep in it. My partner was Rebecca but I just call her Becca. We found a brilliant place to put our hut and it was next to loads of dry moss. So we put the moss on the floor and some on the roof as well as some spruce.

My partner was Andrew. We made a shelter with one big stick up against a tree with loads of little sticks coming off the side with moss on. It was well insulated and had enough room for one to fit in comfortably.  I got the idea for the shelter from Bear Grylls.

Super Soaker

At Ashfield Juniors’ Summer Fair we – Autumn, Carina and Yasmin – were in charge of the Super Soaker stall. The purpose of the stall was to raise money in a fun and crazy sort of way. After paying 50p (for 3 goes) or £1 (for 7 goes) you got to throw a drenched sponge at one of the following people:

• Autumn
• Carina
• Yasmin
• Miss Bryant
• Mr Ditchburn
• Mrs Tooley
• Miss Gardt (our special guest)

We organized all the teachers above to visit our stall for 15 minutes and get soaked.

We think our biggest money making visitor was Mr Ditchburn, some people were even waiting before he’d even got to us! Also, by the look on the teachers’ faces, and ours when we looked back at the pictures, everyone had a lot of fun.

Everyone who had a go at throwing a sponge had a great laugh too, sometimes even hitting them right in the face!

At first, we believed that we wouldn’t get as many customers as other stalls, considering we were in the mall, and no one could walk around the outside of the school – because it was raining(!) – and they had to walk through a class room, and the hall! We were disappointed at this point. But after walking around the school and telling people to visit our stall, we had at least one customer every minute. Wahoo! 

We’d like to thank everyone who helped out, including the teachers, Yasmin, and even each other. As well, we’d like to thank everyone who visited our stall and helping us raise an amount of money we are proud of. J

England v Sweden

On Saturday England played Sweden at the Olympic Stadium. Early on, Sweden won a free-kick but the ball just went wide. Next, Steven Gerrard  laid off Scott Parker and he had a sweet enough strike, but a good save by Isaksson tipped it away and went for a corner.

24 minutes

Sweden got the ball in their own half, but didn’t clear well because Steven Gerrard easily intercepted it. Gerrard’s superb cross let  Andy Carroll leap up high and head the ball into the back of the net, he gave Isaksson no chance of a save.

Later in the match, Ibrahimovic’s shot was deflected into the arms of Joe Hart after Parker gave the ball away - sloppy play by England but the Swedish striker  couldn’t make them pay. The game was  quietened down after a chance came to Ashley Young after a superb pass from Ashley Cole on the wing, fortunately for the Swedish fans Young put it into the side netting. There went the whistle for half time. England led 1-0. Not the best of England ever, but they were still ahead.

Second half 

 Early on Sweden got a goal back from a header by Mellberg. Glen Johnson almost scrambled it out but actually he put it into his own net.  10 minutes later Mellberg got another goal from Larsson’s amazing cross from a free-kick - there was no way that England could win this.

However, Roy Hodgson, the England manager, made the right decision and took off Milner and put on Theo Walcott. As you would know, if you often watch him, Walcott was straight into action.  Just 6 minutes later he hit the ball from 25 yards out and it flew into the top of the net. There was too much swerve on the ball, it sent the keeper the wrong way.

Joe Hart punched the ball away from a Swedish corner and England were on the counter attack. In a flash Theo Walcott ran through the middle of two Swedish players, passed the ball to Welbeck and with his back turned to goal he did a fantastic back heel and won it for England.

Final score 3-2 to England.

A fantastic game for England.  The first time we’ve beaten Sweden in a competitive tournament.

Our Summer Fair

On Saturday 16^th June Ashfield Junior School hosted a summer fair, which was in fact a modern success with raising money. Also, our stalls raised quite a good amount of money. There were stalls for candyfloss, the gladiator, hotdogs, and that was only The Friends of Ashfield’s stalls.

“The summer fair was great fun!” said Olivia - one of the pupils in Year Six.

The summer fair only lasted for 2 hours, but still was good fun. Last year the previous Year Sixes raised just over 400 pounds, hopefully this year we will have raised more than that.

“There were roughly 25 people that came to our stall, the Guess Whose Shoe stall!”  said Rebecca.

When the fair was over all of the Year Six pupils, including me, had to clean up our stalls (which wasn’t really hard when some of us only had a poster, a sheet of paper, and a jar of sweets).

The summer fair was great but what would have made it better would have been if we were outside instead of in. We were inside because of the pouring rain. This meant we had to squeeze everything in, especially the bouncy castle and gladiator. But on the whole it fitted perfectly inside the hall.  In the mall there was ‘Hook a Duck’ and ‘Super Soaker’. In the Year 3 and 4 cloakroom there was a mini train. When the summer fair ended we all wished that it could have lasted just a little longer!

The Conversations That I Find Difficult to Have

The conversations I have are not that easy.

My magnetic mouth always seems to tug them towards me.

Life can be easier said than done, with these types of conversations.

It’s like I changed my setting on my video games to difficult.

The fact is, I wish I was a rubber.

To rub out those conversations of wasted time.

Sometimes I have to use my conversation detector.

Unfortunately, there’s no switch to find the ones which I desire.

You see, I don’t want to be in a lost maze,

I don’t want to find the embodiment of darkness.

All I need is someone, who has a pure heart, to have an easy conversation in their eyes.

The Conversations That I Find

Really Difficult To Have

You know when you just have to have an awkward conversation,

And you regret what you said, you just want to be a rubber and

Get rid of it all.

Like when you get the right moment to say something but you can’t spit it out; you’ve blown your only chance and want to curl

And hide like a cat in front of a fire.

Another one is when you’re grassing on a friend and you hate yourself for it and it’s hard to say but you just do it.

So, that’s it. Those are the conversations that I find really difficult to have.
